2003-10-27 [Midoriko]: when did this get started?? it's interesting and intriguing... :)
2003-10-27 [Lady In Black]: Willow messaged people right when it came up, according to her, so only like a few days ago. ^-^
2003-10-27 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Hi, other people. I haven't officially decided on a religion yet...I'm one of those people who debates things for five years before doing anything... :P
2003-10-27 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I'm researching a lot, though...I have lotsa websites with good stuff in them.
2003-10-28 [Lady In Black]: Welcome! I'm a bit of a newbie myself, though I am officially a Pagan... In here, people seem to know what they're talking about, mostly [Nere] and [Mordigen], so if you have any questiongs, this'd be the place to ask! ^-^
2003-10-30 [Archangel Tyrael]: *blinks* totally lost and confused
2003-11-01 [Lady In Black]: Can I help in any way, Kaylen?
2003-11-01 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Thank you!
2003-11-01 [Archangel Tyrael]: Yes and no, lots of questions; just not sure how to put them.
2003-11-01 [Lady In Black]: Oooh, ok. I know how that goes... :/
2003-11-02 [ElaynaL]: yeah...me too, if anyone needs some more sites, just message me.
2003-11-11 [Nimune]: im not a wiccan, but i seem to have some control of "occult " powers, is it ok if i join?
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: fine by me, and should be by everyone else
2003-11-11 [Nere]: hmmmm....i dunno, this isn't a hangaround, you have to be a pagan(follower of the older gods) or at least looking into becoming one....
2003-11-11 [Nimune]: I can control the energies of sleeping people. yes, i know it sounds wierd, but all i do is meditation and im reinvigorated. i have also been able to influence dreams. im also no looking for a hangaround. i need an intelligent discussion wth people who understand. the only difference between what i do and what some of you people do is the ritual.
2003-11-11 [Nere]: hmmmm well if you really want to, but you'll have to behave...
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: i think it should be fine if they're actually looking for information
2003-11-11 [Nimune]: fine no snide remarks here.
2003-11-11 [Nere]: good...glad to have you!! :P
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Been web-searching.
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: i vote against collegewicca.c
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: and now i vote against the second one as well because it keeps referring to pagans AS wiccans, and like i said in the other forum, that is a very very broad term, and wiccan beliefs arent strictly labled to all pagans:: all wiccans are pagans, but not all pagans are wiccan--they are NOT the same thing, so if someone cant even get that right, i wouldnt trust them on much else....this is why i say go to books over sites, because it is very very easy to get misinformation
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: ...ah. Why don't you write to them? And it's a her. If she doesn't know she's making a mistake, then isn't it your duty to tell her she is? And as for magick-whisper
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: And as for books, I'm deep in the broomcloset and I go to a Catholic school. So...yeah.
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: well im not saying that it should be fixed or not because it's not my place to go ramble about how they should present their religion to people--it is their responsibility to show themselves correctly or not, i'm just pointing out the little mistakes here or there just for an FYI to everyone that might not know, or pointing oue the abscenes of them saying something to the effect of "this is only one path, not the whole religion", again, just as an FYI to the people that might not know, well, perhaps it may be hard for you to get books while in school, but i mean , if your off to the library or something (like a public library, not school library) then most of them do have a good selection
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: and again, just because there are mistakes that i tell people, doesnt mean that they dont have to go look, or just because i wouldnt trust a site doesnt mean that another shouldnt either---i'm just pointing out the mistakes that i personally saw, and then giving my thoughts on it so that they have both sides to think about....so now they have yours for good chants and such etc etc, but now they also know about the pagan/wiccan thing and that the collegewicca is just one path not everything....
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I figured that. I also look at the "Circle of Three" books...my mom thinks they're just my sci-fi/fantasy addiction. And the public library-my branch is being remodeled, so the temporary has about nothing...it's pooey.
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: lol, wow, that sucks......i dont think i've ever seen a library get remodeled before *thinks*
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Plus, the temporary is twice as far from my house as the remodeleed (word?) one...which makes it so I don't go there that often, and if I do, my mom's usually with me...the rest of my family is Christian...
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: ih, that can be a pain
2003-11-11 [Fireblade K'Chona]: You have no idea...but the library's coming back in a few months! *does happy dance* Meanwhile, I research different websites, cobble together what I like best...and my friend, who's a Wiccan, helps me...but she hasn't been one that long, so I'm glad I found this spot!
2003-11-11 [Mordigen]: lol, yea, well i guess thats good then
2003-11-25 [mistress_death]: mmmm...hello all. *huggles fellow wiccans*. christian family huh? (reads previous conversation) mine is as well...but they are fantastically open minded once i sat down and talked about my beliefs with them and explained the importance of it to me...*smiles*
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: wow mistress, you're lucky to have such understanding family members..... the only one in my family that knows about me is my mom, and she instantly told me not to tell anyone else out of fear of what could happen.... she doesn't even want me to tell my grandma... *sigh*...
2003-11-25 [Mordigen]: NEVER tell grandparents, lmao, not unless you want them to go ahead and have a heart attack and die. Unless they just might happen to be into some weird things themselves, but generally, grandparents are even harder to deal with or make understand then anyone else
2003-11-25 [Juraviel]: Yeah. Your lucky mistress. My parents are already regreting not taking me to church. If I told them I was Wiccan they would die of shock. My Grandparents would never talk to me agian if they knew. I wish I could tell em.
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: well... maybe one day everyone we want to tell will open up and not be so closeminded and listen to what we have to say and understand us...
2003-11-25 [Juraviel]: Yeah, but that sounds like a big wish.
2003-11-25 [mistress_death]: lol...my gran kinda knows...she first got the hint when she tried to get me out of bed for church one sun i was stayin w her and i politely but firmly told her she culd have her beliefs, i wuld have mine and i wasnt goin any where near a church to honor them...then proceed to go bak 2 sleep. she wasnt happy...but not much she culd do.
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: oooh... good one.... man if i'd said that to my gran, she'd've smacked me a good one.... lol
2003-11-25 [Anna-Rebecca]: my gran would probably try to burn me if she found out! my mum knows, my dad knows but tries to ignore it and my brothers think it's cool, so I'm kind of ok. 'cept my mum is really annoying and tries to make me go to church with her. I don't know why she has a problem with it though because my aunt and uncle are wiccan and they don't get hassled.
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: somehow it's always different when it's your own kid... they're like, "it'll never happen to my baby, she's innocent", lol... stuff like that.... but hey, they'll get used to it eventually.
2003-11-25 [Anna-Rebecca]: my kids are going to pagan whether they like it or not ;)
2003-11-25 [Anna-Rebecca]: if the christians can do it, why not us? heehee, I'm turning into my mother already!
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: oh boy... that's not good, lol....my mom asked me what i would do if my daughter didn't want to be wiccan.... i just told her that it was up to her. i don't make her go to church with my grandma, and i don't make her join in any of my rituals either..... i ask if she does, and whatever her choice is is hers.... and for the other reason that she's 5, lol.... but when she gets older, it'll be her choice... i'll just have to remind her that what the churches say aren't always correct... and to belive in herself... i mean, that's all i can really do... but what really got my mom, was that at the end of all this, i said, "she can grow up to be a lesbian for all i care and i'll still love her"...
2003-11-25 [Anna-Rebecca]: oh dear.....not the best thing to say I'm sure! I don't have any kids, but when I do I'm going to make sure that they at least follow the basic wiccan ways of respecting life and the earth.
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: well, yeah, that's a must... but i woudn't ever force her to believe something she doesn't want to..... just work it in with daily lessons of kindness *g*
2003-11-25 [Anna-Rebecca]: indeedy. I feel that magick runs in the family though, so if they had a gift for it they may find it difficult to ignore. I'm sure my mum has a natural gift for psychokinesis, but she chooses to ignore it for my dad's sake I reckon and that must be hard. I wouldn't want a child to think that they had to suppress a talent because society doesn't accept it.
2003-11-25 [Midoriko]: yeah, i understand where you're coming from.... i definitely agree with you there.
2003-11-25 [Fé]: *nodnod* Ah well.. One thing, for me, though - I've been Wiccan since last Beltane, and my parents and my close aunt know. But mainly the reason they know is because I told them when, after my last remaining grandparent, my gran, died, they told me to pray to God and I.. well, I told them. They were okay with it, though not especially pleased, but I wish I'd told my gran before she'd died. She was a cool lady. I used to argue with her all the time, because she lived with me and my parents because of their disabilities and to help me, and I think she could have understood. I just wish I could have told her before she died.
2003-11-25 [Fé]: The one silver lining on that huge cloud, though, was that when my parents left me alone with her body, I held her hand and kissed her goodbye, and then I just knew that she was still alive out there. I knew that, though we had parted ways, she'd gone on to begin her new life. ..Sorry, just rambling a bit there.
2003-11-26 [mistress_death]: mmm...well if i ever choose to breed that i shall be careful to bring up my children with a basic respect of life and earth (thanx anna-rebecca for this..lol), but i wouldnt force it on them, just teach them bout various different religious choices and let them make up their own mind. thats the best way..ive never understood conversions...
2003-11-26 [Anna-Rebecca]: that's how I felt about christianity - I just hated the bureaucracy of it and how arrogant the members of the church were.
2003-11-27 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I think that there are too many rankings in the Catholic church...I'm not Catholic, but I go to Mass at school cause everyone has to...I also prefer more interactive-ty
2003-11-27 [Lady In Black]: Yes. I think it's sad that they have to preach to others what to believe... I hate that. People shouldn't have to follow a strict religious path like that. But then, it IS their choice.
2003-11-28 [Juraviel]: I am not sure if the name is right, but is Ellen Dugas a repitable writer?
2003-11-28 [mistress_death]: i never liked the preaching of christianity or the aspect of *having* to go to church on a specific day...prehaps this is one of the factors that seriously appealed to me about wicca...its more about me and the importance of the things around me than the importance of appearing to be pious...that make sense?? also..i dont mind ppl being overly pious and strict...as long as they understand i dont want to be...
2003-11-28 [Lady In Black]: Yeah, exactly.
2003-11-28 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Course, there are the Sabbats and Esbats, but I don't mind those.
2003-11-28 [Thorgin]: I enjoy the sabbats and esbats
2003-11-28 [Lady In Black]: I've only done one, but they all sound like fun and interesting.
2003-11-29 [Thorgin]: Well i've done. Hmm... 5 sabbats so far :)
2003-11-29 [Lady In Black]: Cool. I'm so excited about Yule coming up... looking forward to testing out what I can do...
2003-11-29 [Anna-Rebecca]: I can't wait for Yule, not only is it in my favourite season, but it's probably the most exciting event because all my wiccan friends get involved.
2003-11-29 [mistress_death]: mmm..i love Sabbats...but i meant that *every* sunday you have to go to church and have this pious facade, as some ppl arent there by choice or because they truely honastly believe. i prefer doin things in the comfort and special atmosphere of my own home (or someone close to me) as it feels more right and personal than going somewhere else one day of every week. make sense?
2003-11-29 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I know...I can't see the God or Goddess in a building just because someone slaps up a pretty building and says they're there!
2003-11-29 [One with no lips HaS no room to speaK]: yes it does make since. i am forced to go to a southern baptist church where i pretend i am a good little christian girl, then i go home and pretend there. and school too. but the ppl who sit near me know its all a lie. they see my books.....some
2003-11-30 [Thorgin]: Oh well it's good to hear you have someone to celebrate with.
2003-11-30 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I have to go to Mass at school and go to church on Sundays...thou
2003-11-30 [Nere]: WOW!!! time for a cut....all past conversations will be stored at the Old Wiccan Room....
2003-11-30 [mistress_death]: poor poor children *huggles* forced religion makes me so angry *growls*
2003-11-30 [Anna-Rebecca]: *huggles back* sorry, I just like hugs....
2003-11-30 [SAHS]: oh! me too!! ::hugs:: I told my mom!!! She didn't take it too well... but then, she only knows what I told her about Wicca, so... well, once she knows about spells and magick, i think i'm hosed.
2003-11-30 [Anna-Rebecca]: hosed? - is that a bad thing? *more hugs*
2003-11-30 [Lady In Black]: Yeah, hosed is like... dead. More than dead. But it takes a lot of guts, Willow! Props!
2003-11-30 [SAHS]: Thanks. Yeah, hosed... a word of my family's invention, I suppose. ::shrug::
2003-11-30 [Nere]: Cheers Willow!
2003-12-01 [SAHS]: ^-^
2003-12-01 [Thorgin]: Willow's name makes me think of the famous Starhawk that wrote "The spiral dance"
2003-12-01 [Fireblade K'Chona]: Dancing is fun. I love dancing...
2003-12-01 [mistress_death]: *huggles willow* ohh...congrats
2003-12-01 [Anna-Rebecca]: meh, delusional is good ;) *even more hugs*
2003-12-01 [Lady In Black]: lol, mistress. Good luck, it probably won't be half as bad as you might imagine... at least if your dad's anything like my mom. *more hugs! yay!* And delusional is OK ^.~
2003-12-01 [Juraviel]: Being delusional is fun. People stay away then.
